Senior Class Information Update 03/31/2023
Class of 2023-
A lot of things are happening between spring break and graduation! Here is a list of what you need to know-
- Senior dues need to be paid ASAP. The final deadline for them was in January. $130 can be paid in cash or check in the office, or they can be paid with a card through eFunds on the school website.
Important Dates:
Wednesday, April 12th – TENATIVE Tour of MCC OR senior breakfast at AAW – Report to AAW at 8:30AM
Thursday, April 13th – “Super Mario Bros” at MJR Marketplace 15 mile and Van Dyke. Report to AAW at 8:30AM. Bring money for concessions if you would like.
If your parents/guardians would like to volunteer to drive for these field trips, email Mr. Wotherspoon at bwotherspoon@artsacad.net
Friday, May 12th – Prom – Barrister Gardens in St Clair Shores, MI. Tickets are $65.00 a piece. This is a JUNIOR and SENIOR event. Any guests under Junior standing will not be allowed to enter. Tickets sold before and after school starting April 3rd. See Mr. Wotherspoon for details.
Wednesday, May 17th – Evening of the Arts – Macomb Performing Arts Center 6:30PM
May 22nd – 25th – FINALS – Students leave after their last final of the day.
Monday – 7th hour
Tuesday – 5th and 6th hour
Wednesday – 4th and 3rd hour
Thursday – 1st and 2nd hour
Thursday, June 1st – Graduation Rehearsal 5:30 – 7:30 – Arts Academy in the Woods.
Report to the cafegymatorium through student entrance. Cords and medals will be given at rehearsal.
Friday, June 2nd – GRADUATION – Arts Academy in the Woods field 6:30PM
Students will be given 5 tickets for seats. Up to 10 extra tickets for standing/ bring your own chair can be purchased in the office. 1 for $2 or 10 for $15.
Wednesday, June 21st – Class of 2023/Alumni Cedar Point Trip. Details to come

The Senior Class Advisor for the Class of 2023 is Mr. Wotherspoon
Mr. Wotherspoon will be stopping into the Senior Project classes to inform them about all the senior events. Herff Jones will handle graduation memorabilia and other items for the seniors.
Seniors that plan to use their own photo in the yearbook (instead of the school photographer’s photo), will need to submit an electronic copy. Senior Pictures must be submitted according to the details found on the Yearbook Info page.

Herff Jones
Mr. Wotherspoon met with a representative from Herff Jones to discuss diplomas, cap and gown, and graduation announcements.
Our representative at Herff Jones has sent some links and videos to me to share with you. These will tell you everything you need to know about ordering memorabilia that do not come with the Senior Dues.

In lieu of our usual Senior Class meeting in school, we’ve included a quick 10 minute video for you to watch and all ordering material attached. Without any in school order dates, please make sure you contact us directly with any questions and be sure to place your order before December 20th to be included in the Group Order/Early Bird discount.
We’ll be open the following Saturdays to assist you in person for ordering your Class Rings & Necklaces. Otherwise all orders can be placed:

Senior Dues
A) Senior dues are $130.00. This typically includes the diploma, diploma cover, cap and gown, announcements, 5 tickets for graduation, and senior t-shirt.
Checks can be made payable to: Arts Academy in the Woods. Senior Dues may now also be paid online through EZ-pay on our website. All monies should be turned into the office or through EZ Pay, so that you can get a receipt.
If you haven’t paid senior dues yet, please do so as soon as possible. If your family is experiencing difficulty making arrangements, please reach out to the main office for assistance.

Senior Finals
Finals for graduating seniors will begin on the Tuesday after Memorial Day.
Seniors will take their finals during their regularly scheduled class periods. These will be regular school days for all other students.
During Senior Finals week, seniors will be expected to leave the building after they complete their last final of the day each day.
- Tuesday- 7th hour final, seniors will be dismissed at the regular time -3:31 p.m.
- Wednesday- 5th and 6th Hour finals. Seniors will be dismissed at 1:47 p.m.
- Thursday- 3rd and 4th Hour finals. Seniors will be released by 12:43 pm
- Friday- 1st and 2nd Hour finals. Seniors will be released at 10:17 a.m.
